Properties of Astragalus.

What is Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) and properties? The root of this plant has been used in traditional Asian medicine for centuries.

Properties of astragalus root extract:

  • Natural activator of telomerase. Astragalus is a plant from northern China that is harvested after four or seven years. What makes it wonderful is its root, because it naturally activates the vital telomerase, an enzyme that is no longer present on the seventh day of birth. An enzyme that protects, repairs and lengthens short telomeres, but also prevents the lengths are not shortened, delaying cell aging. This is one of the most impressive discoveries in recent years and it will serve not so much to lengthen life, which is the least of it, but to improve its quality.
  • Immunological properties. The main properties and it has been used for centuries in traditional Asian medicine. Briefly works as follows: The main components of astragalus root are saponins and polysaccharides, including three astragalans of different molecular weight are composed of arabinose, galactose and glucose. Produce interferon (activating protein of the body’s defenses against all types of pathogens (viruses, bacterias…) and activating the cells of the immune system.
  • Antiviral properties. Demonstrated effectiveness as an inhibitor of the replication of some viruses such as coxsackie.
  • Astragalus is a natural anti-aging for curative purposes as combating the aging of cells and the oxidative stress generated by various internal and external aggressions. Antioxidant properties favors a better regeneration and recovery of the organism throughout life. Astragalus is known to limit free radicals. Important anti-aging properties!
  • Cardiovascular properties. Saponins have a slightly anticoagulant and hypotensive action. There are clinical studies in patients with heart failure administered with their medication 5 grams of astragalus a day along with their conventional medicine. These patients had a greater improvement than the rest of the patients who only took their conventional treatment, helping reduce inflammation of the heart muscle in cases of myocarditis.
  • Hypoglycemic properties. In traditional Asian medicine this plant used to control type II diabetes. Astragalus root (as studies show us) reduces blood glucose levels and improves metabolism.
  • Protective and promoting properties of the proper functioning of the kidney. Astragalus root extract protects against the risk of infection in people with nephrotic syndrome (kidney failure). Reduce the presence of protein in the urine (proteinuria).
  • Anti-allergic properties. Astragalus treatments reduce symptoms of seasonal allergies (such as rhinitis).
  • Protective properties of the liver. Astragalus root extract protects the liver from damage caused by toxic substances and prevents the decrease in liver glycogen.

The Astragalus has flavonoids, saponins, amino acids, immunostimulating polysaccharides, trace elements and triterpenes. Its roots have minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, potassium or selenium and very rich in vitamins A, B, C and D (D3).
